Senior Electrical Controls Engineer

Location: Orlando, Florida

Direct Hire / Permanent

Talos Automation have an established partnership with a Florida-based automation company who are seeking a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join them on a permanent/direct hire basis. Like for most, 2020 has presented some challenges in terms of projects and utilization however 2021 has presented a lot of opportunity for our client as they now prepare to hire off the back of securing customer bids. Now would be a great time to join.

As a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for developing system concepts based on customers’ requirements, timeline availability, as well as budgetary requirements using various PLC platforms. After visualizing the project’s concept, it is up to you to put together a complete controls package encompassing electrical and mechanical drawings and documentation needed to define the electrical and control elements of the system. This package will then be used by electrical installers, programmers, and graphics developers and will be used for materials, labour assignments, resource allocation as well as commissioning, startup and future troubleshooting.

Ideally, you will be currently working within a similar capacity as a controls designer on machinery automation projects. We can be a little flexible on the industry you have worked in as long as parallels can be drawn.

About you:

* Ideally degree educated within an engineering discipline, preferably with an electrical bias.
* A proven background in the full lifecycle design, programming and troubleshooting of material handling equipment.
* Good exposure to motors, bar code scanners, variable frequency drives (VFD), PLC (Siemens & Rockwell Platforms) etc. Being able to program a PLC would be a bonus.
* Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical drawings from scratch, preferably in AutoCAD.

Other information:

* This position requires occasional on-call support.
* This position requires occasional travel (Circa 25%)
