PLC Programmer: STR Group USA, Inc. (Sterling Heights, MI) seeks a PLC Programmer, responsible for the programming, start-up and debugging of automation equipment. Perform software programming of PLC controls, from design to installation, and system commissioning. Interpret mechanical sequence and controls drawings and writes ladder logic to customer specifications. Verify machine build to match drawings. Verify all peripheral equipment is in place, functional and safe to operate. Verify that machine was powered up correctly. Work with electricians, pipe fitters and builders to check hardware for correct build, piping wiring and operation. Verify that all safeties are in place and operational.

Check for correct wiring of all interfaces to peripheral equipment. Work with robot programmers to establish correct PLC-Robot interface. Load ladder logic and configure PLC hardware. Debug ladder logic to match correct manual and automatic sequence. Work closely with project management, controls and customer to make sure machine operation meets the customer’s requirements. Work with robot programmers, pipe fitters and builders to achieve cycle time. Ensure that machine goes through a successful customer buyoff. Provide updated drawings to controls department. Provide hardcopy and disk of all programs to controls and to documentation department.

Implement changes and verify correct completion. Understand and follow safety/environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns. Adhere to the Quality Systems and participate in continuous improvement.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 years of PLC programming/controls engineering for the automotive industry with regards to Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC’s and HMI platforms, Ladder Logic, using Siemens TIA Portal, Siemens Step 7, Rockwell RS Logix 500 and RS Logix 5000, SCADA testing and fault finding. Travel to unanticipated revolving client locations throughout U.S.
