Controls Engineer

Location: Florida, USA

Salary: $Depending on experience

With the current global climate generating a lot of uncertainty in terms of jobs and livelihoods, it is refreshing to hear about companies who are experiencing light at the end of the tunnel and positive order books for early 2021. That, and the huge increase in demand for home deliveries, online services and everything being available to you at the click of the button, the warehouse and intralogistics sector – I mean it was already doing well but now – is really on the up!

Off the back of this, we are seeking a controls engineer for a client in Florida who work with a number of key players in this market to provide expert consultancy and engineering projects in relation to material handling, robotics and automation. This will be a full-lifecycle role from a early concept, systems design, PLC programming, install, commissioning, test, acceptance, debug, start-up and customer training.

Ideally, you will be currently working within a similar capacity preferably within the material handling sector. Other industries may be considered but aptitude, ability and interest in their technology will need to be showcased.

Skills / Knowledge that you will have:

* Ideally educated to degree level, relevant industry experience will be considered as a substitute if not.
* Proven and demonstrable experience with full-lifecycle control systems development, Siemens S7 PLC’s would be the most desirable. If not, a proven track record of picking up and learning new software and technology platforms will be considered.
* Exposure to automated guided vehicles (AGV), conveyors, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), cranes, shuttle systems.
* Customer-facing skills. The key to maintaining business relationships is communication. This is key.

Other things to consider:

* Initially this position can be based remotely (in Florida state), however post-pandemic this will be based at site.
* Willingness to travel circa 25% of the time to customer sites (across the US).
* US Passport holders only.
